Biography
Steffi Fischer received her first vocal training with Mariëtte Witteveen and Heide Blanke-Röser. She continued her vocal studies at the University of Music Karlsruhe with Klaus Dieter Kern and with Gabriella Lichter-Maxende at the Detmold University of Music, followed by role studies with Ekkehard Schoeps at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In 2012 she successfully completed her pedagogical certification with the BDG (Federal Association of German Vocal Pedagogues).
She regularly performs church concerts and lieder recitals at home and abroad. Steffi Fischer's repertoire spans classical-romantic song literature and that of the 20th century, as well as operatic roles in the lyric fach. Particular emphasis lies on roles by Haydn and Mozart — in oratorio additionally baroque repertoire, especially J.S. Bach.
Important artistic impulses came from the Sigmund Bothmann vocal ensemble. She is also a founding member of the Ensemble für Neue Musik Schloss Hamborn. Since 2004 Steffi Fischer has been deeply engaged with contemporary music (improvisation, theatre and film music, performance, etc.) and the expansion of her expressive repertoire, including experiments with live electronics. In 2008 she sang the role of Titania in the media opera "forest2" by Torsten Brandes, Chris Ziegler and Michael Hewel, premiered at the Muffathalle, Munich.
Les Garçonnes
Together with accordionist Joanne Bialek, Steffi Fischer discovered her love of French chanson and founded the duo Les Garçonnes, offering a programme rooted primarily in the Piaf era.
Vocal Pedagogy
As a vocal pedagogue, Steffi Fischer has led voice training, role study and choir direction in numerous music theatre projects for children and young people, including productions such as The Threepenny Opera, Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, Anatevka, Hair, Cabaret, Les Misérables, The Magic Flute (children's version), Brundibar and Manas the Highhearted (premiere in Kyrgyzstan), among others.
Theater für Niedersachsen
Since the 2016/17 season, Steffi Fischer has been a permanent member of the opera chorus and also performs as a soloist at Theater für Niedersachsen in Hildesheim.
